I'm Kit Rana
A Data/Software Engineer specializing in Data Science, Analytics, and ML
Hey there. I’m Kit, an analytics engineer who sits at the intersection of data engineering, software engineering, and analytics. I build the systems that analytics teams rely on, from programmatic pipelines and ETL processes to internal tools and automation that turn raw data into usable, trustworthy insights.
I have over a decade of programming experience, with the last seven years focused on designing and maintaining production grade analytics workflows that support data science, reporting, and decision making at scale. I can operate as a data engineer or a software engineer when needed, but my focus is on enabling analytics through well engineered systems rather than one off solutions.
My day to day work is primarily in Python, supported by strong SQL, JavaScript, shell scripting, and PySpark when needed. I lean heavily on command line tooling like bq, gcloud, and gsutil to build, debug, and automate end to end workflows.
I currently work at a major online travel company where I design analytics focused infrastructure and automation used by analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders across the organization. This includes building reusable pipelines, scalable data models, and tooling that removes friction from analytical workflows. If something is manual more than once, it probably deserves a proper solution.
I work primarily in the Google Cloud Platform ecosystem and am comfortable operating across application code, data platforms, and cloud infrastructure. While GCP is my daily environment, I also have extensive experience with AWS and Azure. I value clean abstractions, readable code, and systems that are easy for the next engineer to pick up and extend.
At the core of my work is building software and data systems with analytics as the end consumer, combining engineering rigor with a practical understanding of how analysts and data scientists actually work.
I am always learning, experimenting, and refining my approach as tools and technologies evolve. I enjoy owning problems end to end and building solutions that scale with both data and teams.
If you are looking for someone who can bridge software engineering, data engineering, and analytics without losing depth in any of them, feel free to reach out.
